You missed the context entirely, I'm assuming? The petition creator probably does not care about divorce at all - they're attempting to point out what they believe is hypocrisy in the opponents of gay marriage. Namely, that the "welfare of the family" and "sanctity of marriage" often already take the backseat in modern marriages.

The passage of Proposition 8 in California sparked a flurry of these kinds of topics, lawsuits, and proposals in real life, and on the internet.

I'm glad some one has finally brought to our attention the ungodliness and unsanctity that divorce impossess on our society. Banning gay marriages was just the first step in protecting the sanctity of God's holiest of gifts, so now we need come together and pitch in and show the world the support of the good lord's true Americans by protecting our nation's moral values in this most turmoiltuous of times.
I'm just happy to see so much support already, it's very reassuring to know that there's so many you truely care for our nation's future.

Honestly I see no point in banning divorces ..

If 2 people would actually think things through before actually saying 'I do' it would be a lot easier. Take your time to get to know someone, take it step by step. If everyone did it, things would be a lot easier.

The high rate of divorces is simply because everything is rushed these days, including something what ought to be sacred and cherished, marriage ..

So I oppose banning divorces, but support marriages that are 'thought-through'

Just my 2 cents ..
